Galaxy Oil Shale operates with transparency and accountability, embracing cutting edge technology for efficient and safe operations, while protecting the environment and engaging with local communities. The retorting unit called Galoter is the most advanced technology and environmentally friendly, it uses very small amount of water. The technology has found its commercial application in many working commercial plants in Estonia. These units take up to now the leading place in the world as to the quality of oil and gas obtained from oil shale, ecological indicators and economic efficiency.

To gradually transform Jordan from near-total dependence on imported energy sources to utilizing local oil shale energy resources, most importantly oil shale. At Galaxy Oil Shale, we are not just extracting natural resources, we are building a resilient energy future for Jordan and shaping tomorrow’s energy landscape.
Sustainability
The retorting plant will be located in a remote, uninhabited area in the Karak Governorate. The low-temperature combustion process resulting in a natural reduction in nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide and sulfur oxide formation, the emitted particles are captured by electrostatic precipitate (EFIP) filters before being released into the atmosphere. The retorting plant minimizes water consumption by employing air-cooled condensers and recycling water used in dust control and other processes. The resulting ash can be reused in industries such as construction and cement, or returned to the mine to fill voids as part of the ongoing remediation and restoration process. The project will meet the requirements of the relevant provisions of the Equator Principles and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, as well as the World Bank’s Health and Safety Guidelines. Galaxy Shale will continue to monitor the environmental impact during the mine opening and retorting plant construction and operation to ensure compliance with regulations.
